The Data Universal Numbering System, often known as D-U-N-S , requires that you register first. A copyrighted, exclusive method of identifying enterprises on a location-specific basis is the D-U-N-S® Number. The number is the default company identifier for federal electronic commerce and is widely used by both commercial and federal businesses. If there are issues with your information, this process could take up to four weeks or possibly longer.

Second, everyone who wants to transact business with the federal government must sign up with the System for Award Management. Registration is cost-free. Authorized Organization Representatives (AORs) and an E-Business Point of Contact (E-Biz POC) must be named.

Thirdly, sign up with HHS Grants, where you can access grant applications. After registering for D-U-N-S and SAM be sure to register. In most cases, registration is finished by the end of the session.
